With a little more than a year to go until the start of the 2014 Winter Olympics in the southern city of Sochi, the host nation of Russia has opened its first official Olympic merchandise shop in Moscow.

Shelves in the brand new department of the official sport goods chain Sportmaster were full of various merchandise from skis and skates to notebooks and of course, toys of the Olympic mascots - White Bear, Bunny and Leopard. It’s expected the national chain will open 300 departments with Olympic merchandise in shops across Russia in the run-up to the Winter Games.

Sochi 2014 Organising committee President Dmitry Chernyshenko took part in the opening of the Olympic department at the Vegas Mall in Moscow, cutting the red ribbon to declare the first official store open for business.
